Community News from Artful Home Care
Did you know that the last Wednesday in the month of May is National Senior Health & Fitness Day? This year, that special day fell on Wednesday, May 27th and The Ed & Phyllis Davis Wellness Institute located at the Southampton Hospital, held a Senior Health & Fitness Open House. Beth McNeill-Muhs, along with her grandmother Jean, enjoyed an afternoon of health and wellness for seniors! They sampled chair yoga, massage and acupuncture, healthy food demos, health screenings, and met with some of the great trained staff working at the wellness institute. A big thank you to Jessica Swiatocha, Tonya Miles, Jack Todaro, Margaret Ianacone, Loretta Dalia and Paula Montagna for making the afternoon a fun and educational opportunity for all!
Southampton Hospital celebrated the opening of their new entrance to The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, April 30th. Beth McNeill-Muhs attended the celebratory afternoon. There were stories from a breast cancer survivor, tears shed by those who knew and loved Ellen Hermanson and words of encouragement and love. It was a touching experience and I am pleased to know we have state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, including mammography with tomosynthesis. The Center offers a variety of breast health services, including education, early detection screenings and breast cancer support. The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center was designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Local elected officials such as State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr., Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst, and Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley were in attendance, along with the founders of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation.
April 30th was a busy day, as Beth McNeill-Muhs also attended the Southampton Chamber of Commerce networking event held at BMW Southampton, sponsored by Hamptons Empolyment Agency. We shared the news of Artful Home Care with many. We also found several people had heard about what we are doing and have already shared it with others in our community! We are honored to serve our community and look forward to being there for you and your families now and in the future.
