From the Desk of Beth McNeill-Muhs, Owner, Artful Home Care
Dear Friends,
Having immersed myself in the field of fine art over the last 15 years I have developed a greater understanding of how therapeutic art can be in ones life. Whether you surround yourself with art, create it, or appreciate it, it is undoubtedly true that art can have a strong healing effect.
My passion has developed even further and I am now working to bring the benefits of art deeper into our community and into the homes of those we love most. I am proud to launch Artful Home Care, Inc. A home health care agency based on Eastern Long Island and servicing both Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
Artful Home Care is more than just a home care agency, it is a way of life.
A way of life for those who are living in our community and may be seeking companionship so they may remain in the comforts of their own home while doing what it is they love most. Whether dealing with a chronic disease, the challenges of aging, or if you have a temporary condition or are looking for respite care, we will provide a creative care plan. Our agency takes a whole life approach to care so you may enjoy the activities of daily living in your own home with the enrichment of an art, music and wellness program.
If you have a loved one, or a friend who may be in need of companionship and care please share this newsletter with them and invite them to visit our website, www.artfulhomecare.net.
McNeill Art Group looks forward to seeing you this summer and will continue to bring curated exhibitions for the 2015 season!
With Gratitude,
Beth McNeill-Muhs
President, Artful Home Care, Inc.

COMMUNITY NEWS
ELDER LAW ESTATE PLANNING SEMINAR
In March Beth McNeill and Lauren Traskos of Artful Home Care were invited to sit in on a presentation through Ettinger Law Firm, to discuss Elder Law Estate Planning, essentially, protecting your future. During this seminar, topics of discussion included the end of traditional will planning, and the rise of the “living trust revolution”. Here is what we learned about why millions of people have set up trusts:
• Save time and money in settling the estate
• Avoid legal guardianship if they become disabled
• Avoid have their personal and financial matters made public
• Reduce the chance of a “will contest”
• Keep control in the family and out of the court system
Through Michael Ettinger’s engaging presentation we learned that “Elder Law Estate Planning” is a niche area of law which combines the features of elder law and estate planning that pertain most to your specific needs. The practice of Elder Law Estate Planning means:
• Getting your assets to your heirs, when you want, in the way you want, with the least amount of taxes and legal fees
• Keeping those assets in the blood for your grandchildren
• Protecting your assets from the costs of long-term care and qualifying for government benefits available to pay for care
Artful Home Care had the pleasure of meeting Micheal Ettinger, attorney at law, who put on this presentation. During his seminar, Michael used language people can understand, that covered topics important to all seniors as well as to adult children caring for their parents. Through this interactive seminar, Artful Home Care was able to gain insightful information to further help and assist aging members of our community. http://www.trustlaw.com/
Parrish Art Museum’s Spring Fling
Artful Home Care is proud to be a bronze sponsor of the Parrish Art Museums Spring Fling benefit being held on Saturday, April 25th. Our director, Beth McNeill-Muhs serves on the Spring Fling committee. All the proceeds from this event help to support the Parrish’s year-round children’s programs. These year-round educational programs provided by Parrish Art Museum allow our community’s school children and families to see, learn about, and experience great works of art and the creative process. Artful Home Care is very excited to be able to sponsor such an enriching event for our community.
