  • Relax. Stress can trigger insomnia, so it is important your loved one know how to manage their stress levels. If something is bothering them, have them either write down their concern or talk to you or a home care provider about it. Listening to calming music, getting a massage, reading a relaxing book, and meditating are all ways to reduce stress.
