This past month I attended the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Concepts in Care conference in NYC.  And I am THRILLED to learn that a recent scientific study concluded that ballroom dancing can significantly improve the life of those living with Alzheimer’s disease (more so than the current prescription drugs). This is the type of therapy we need to provide to our loved ones.  These are the tools that will satisfy personal needs and create new neural pathways.  And believe it or not, the study also found that many who could not walk well and didn’t speak, were able to dance and sing!   That’s right!  I encourage you to be open to allowing your loved one do what will make them happy!  When care is approached with professionals and lifestyle companions, therapeutic recreation can provide healing, cognitive improvement, and one of the biggest needs sought out by the aging population today, socialization and happiness!

Our “Art for Health” music in May took place at the three Southampton Town senior centers in Bridgehampton, Flanders, and Hamptons Bays.  Artful Home Care enjoyed Music: Rhythm, a music-making workshop hosted by musician Kate Hirschman.  The response was overwhelmingly positive and they want us back!  We look forward to continuing with our Art for Health programs at the community centers.  If there is a community center, Nursing Home or Assisted Living Facility that you think should learn about our programs, please let us know we are happy to speak to them!

Again, we want to help you get the care you need so your loved one can enjoy and improve their life!  Call Artful Home Care today, 631-259-6472 and visit us at https://www.artfulhomecare.net!
