Turn to your community!
Dear Friends,
Turn to your community! Many families want to see their aging loved ones enjoy social activities and engage with friends and members of the community. Yet often families struggle to understand where they can turn to seek out these valuable resources. Socialization, emotional support, movement, and wellness are key to allow physical healing to take place. Without these needs being met, depression, fatigue, dehydration, and more can start to set in.
We have an answer that is right in each community and in most cases is free!! That’s right, free! Your local public library! Libraries on Long Island provide many amazing free programs that encourage interaction, stimulation, and movement, offer education in nutrition, health care, and age-related planning and provide valuable engagement and creative outlets to maximize the quality of life. Wow! All of that in one place! And if you plan in advance you can utilize services such as your town transportation program to offer affordable rides for you and your caregiver (available to anyone over the age 60!).
